Update: Tingha Fire Burns on, Linton Fire Under Control


Linton Fire


The fire is burning in the area of Linton and Warrabah. The fire spread in an easterly direction towards Kingstown and has burnt more than 600 hectares.


The immediate threat to properties has eased but residents should continue to monitor conditions, in case they change.


Firefighters will conduct backburning operations overnight where conditions are suitable, in an effort to contain the fire.


NSW Rural Fire Service Advice:


If you are in the area of Warrabah, continue to monitor conditions and ensure you know what you will do if the fire reaches your property or location.


Crews are conducting doorknocks in the area. Stay up to date and monitor conditions.


You may see an increase of smoke and fire as backburning operations are carried out, backburning will be used where conditions are suitable in an effort to contain the fire.


Tingha Plateau Fire


A bush fire is burning in the area around Lake Copeton and Tingha.


Thunderbolts Way and Bundarra Road is closed between Bundarra and Inverell.


The fire has spread quickly today towards the townships of Tingha and Old Mill.


There is a threat to properties in Tingha and Old Mill.


Emergency Alert telephone warnings have been sent to homes and mobile phones in the area.


NSW Rural Fire Service Advice:


If you are in the Tingha area and are not prepared, go to the Tingha Primary School and Recreation Reserve on the corner of Garnet Street and Ruby Street in Tingha. This is a Neighbourhood Safer Place.


An evacuation centre has been set up at Inverell High School in Brae Street, Inverell.


If your plan is to stay with your property, ensure you are well prepared and know what you will do if the fire reaches your location.


A number of schools will be closed on Wednesday including Gilgai Public School, Tingha Public School, Bundarra Central Public School, and Kingstown Public School.
