'Chance to give back': Bill receives Order of Australia Medal

After losing his son in a horrific accident, one Tamworth man had always wondered if a rescue helicopter has been based in the area would things have turned out differently.

William Warburton, fondly known to everyone as Bill, decided that when the Westpac Rescue Helicopter set up in the region, he would do whatever he could to ensure the service remained free and able to help families.

That has been just one organisation that he has dedicated countless hours to. Why? Because Tamworth "has been good to me", Mr Warburton said.

He added he was "shocked" to find out he would receive an OAM.

Bill chatted with Annie about what motivates him, why he loves Tamworth and the community he has built around him through volunteering.
