For the first time in 45 years, Country Music Capital News will temporarily halt publishing.
The COVID-19 measures needed to slow the spread of the virus has subsequently devastated the music industry and also affected Capital News.
Tamworth Regional Council’s Country Music manager and publisher, Barry Harley said the publication is vital to the country music industry and provides a platform for exclusive interviews with national and international artists.
He added it is also there to support record labels, venues, festivals, retailers and other sectors of the business, and to promote and market their products.
“With the world in isolation, so too are touring musicians and entertainers, with closed venues and no festivals to attend,” Mr Harley said.
He reiterated that the suspension of production is temporary and will be reviewed as conditions improve.
“Our advertisers, readers and contributors are all being informed of the immediate changes but we know they will all understand that the situation is out of our control,” Mr Harley said.
“Although our loyal subscribers won’t receive the May and June issues their subscription orders will automatically be extended by the missing months.
“We look forward to returning to production as soon as the industry gets back on its feet and the future is much brighter for the industry we all love and cherish. Your continued support will be important in helping the industry recover and thrive again.”
