More than 3,000 people were tested for COVID-19 in Tamworth and over 1000 in Armidale, as both of the drive-through testing clinics in the region closed over the weekend.
Dr David Durrheim, the public health physician, said this is an amazing achievement and shows how dedicated we are to ensuring our towns remain safe from COVID-19.
He also warns that while it’s great news that no new cases have been found, people should be careful not to relax and undo the good work that has been done and continue with good hand hygiene and social distancing.
Furthermore, anyone with COVID-19 symptoms should see their local GP for testing.
Dr Durrheim also reminds residents of Gunnedah that a testing clinic is now operating in the education building of the Gunnedah Hospital campus.
It is open Monday to Friday between 1pm and 3pm. People should call 6741 8000 to register for testing before attending.
