Firefighters leap into action after reports of a house fire
Updated: Oct 19, 2020
Emergency services were called to the scene of a house fire on Monday afternoon after Triple-Zero calls. Firefighters, paramedics and police rushed to Gill Street, Kootingal at about 2.45pm after a two-storey weatherboard house went up in flames. UPDATE:
Station officer Steven McWhirter said the fire started inside the house, and the cause was being investigated.
"The house was totally destroyed by fire," he said.
"It was fully involved when we got here. The whole front of the house had flames coming out of it.
The crews have done a fabulous job ... to put it out."
Inspector McWhirter said if people had been inside asleep, it would not have been a happy ending but luckily no residents were at home when the blaze started.
EARLIER: A NSW Police spokesperson on the scene said no one had been inside at the time of the fire, and no injuries have been reported. A Rural Fire Service spokesperson said they have a unit on scene and have requested more units to come out.
A NSW Police spokesperson said all emergency services were on the scene to deal with the incident. MORE TO COME.
