Fourth house fire in a month as Gunnedah home lights up

A home in Linden Place Gunnedah erupted into flames just before 4 pm on Tuesday 4th August.

All residents escaped the fire, however, one person was treated for smoke inhalation and later transferred to the hospital for further assessments.

Local fire crews 314 from Gunnedah and 229 from Boggabri attended the scene to see incredible amounts of smoke coming from the brick residence.

The fire crew backed up by the Rural Fire Service donned breathing apparatuses and got to work fighting the fire.

A spokesperson for Gunnedah's 314 fire crew said the only option was to fight the fire defensively due to the ferocity.

A number of vehicles parked in the properties garage were salvaged however the house was too far gone to be saved.

A spokesperson for 314 fire crew said a large number of sightseers significantly hindered back up crews joining the fight and recommend people stay away from situations like this in the future.

Police and paramedics also attended the scene to assist with the on-scene assessment and crowd control.

This is the fourth house fire in the local area over the last month and police are continuing their investigation into what sparked the fire.
