More than half of the new permanent pipeline from Chaffey Dam to Tamworth has been completed.
Now WaterNSW will hold its next round of community information sessions next week to provide updates on the construction.
The project aims to extend water supply to meet critical human needs for Tamworth, Kootingal and Moonbi and eliminate significant water losses which occur along the Peel River arising from evaporation and water loss to the aquifer.
WaterNSW and contractor MPC Kinetic have now completed 58 per cent of the new pipeline, with more than 30 per cent of the workforce consisting of locals.
The information sessions will present details on the latest construction program, expected completion date and remaining works, how the permanent pipeline will operate when construction is completed and when the temporary weir on the Peel River will be removed and the latest drought outlook.
