Hydro set-up uncovered, 21 mature cannabis plants seized

A man has been charged after police discovered a hydroponic cannabis set-up near Gunnedah.

Just after 9.30am on Tuesday, officers from Oxley Police District executed a search warrant at a property at Carroll.

Police found the hydroponic set-up within the home and seized 21 mature cannabis plants, leaves and a firearm component.

A 41-year-old man was arrested at the home and taken to Gunnedah Police Station, while a five-year-old child living at the home was placed into the care of a family member.

A child-at-risk notification has been made.

The man has been charged with possess prohibited drug, supply prohibited drug, enhanced indoor cultivate prohibited plant-expose child, and acquire firearm part without authority.

The man appeared at Gunnedah Local Court yesterday and was formally refused bail to appear at the same court on March 3.
