Link Airways flies out of Tamworth to Sydney
Link airways took flight to Sydney on Monday morning in its Saab 340B Plus aircraft.
It's been three years since Tamworth airport had two carriers doing the Sydney service, the COVID 19 pandemic putting a stop to flights after passenger numbers declined.
Link airways will have two flights operating a day, seven days a week, starting at a low cost of $159 per flight.
Link Airways manager of network strategy and development Jeff Boyd said the flight is another option for Sydney, having been operating between Tamworth and Brisbane for six years.
Mr Boyd said they are confident the flights will be a welcomed addition to Tamworth Regional airport,
"Everyone wants to fly, everyone is wanting to go to places again. So it's a good time to start the new route with a slightly different schedule to the existing carrier a little bit later in the morning departing," said Mr Boyd.
Link Airways flies from Tamworth, Orange, Armidale, Inverell and Narrabri in the New England North West.
