A Tamworth man will face court next month after being charged over the alleged sexual assault of a young woman.
In September 2019, detectives from Oxley Police District commenced an investigation following reports an 18-year-old woman had been sexually assaulted by a man known to her.
Following extensive investigations, including forensic examinations, detectives arrested a 38-year-old man on Thursday.
The man was taken to Tamworth Police Station and charged with sexual intercourse without consent (DV) and sexual touching (DV).
Police will allege in court that the man sexually abused the woman while she was asleep at a home at West Tamworth on September 12.
He has been granted strict conditional bail and is due to appear at court in March.
