Essential Energy crews will soon complete maintenance on the electricity network that supplies power to more than 2,800 homes and businesses in Kootingal, Moonbi, Bendemeer and surrounding areas.
Operations manager for Northern Tablelands, Mark Summers, said the maintenance work was about addressing potential weaknesses.
“The works were identified as part of an inspection of the electricity network and will include the replacement of crossarms and insulators, and a power pole, which are nearing the end of life,” he said.
“While every effort has been made to minimise the impact on customers, a planned power outage will be necessary to allow Essential Energy crews to complete the works safely.”
The planned power outage is scheduled for February 23, between 1.30am and 10.30am in Bendemeer, Kootingal, Limbri, Moonbi, Tintinhull, Watsons Creek and parts of Daruka, Moore Creek, Nemingha and surrounding areas.

Affected households and businesses have been notified.
“Significant planning has been undertaken to complete the work as quickly and safely as possible, which includes bringing in additional crews and equipment from Gunnedah and Walcha to work with our Tamworth crews,” Mr Summers said.
"The scheduled works are dependent on suitable weather conditions and may be postponed if the conditions are unfavourable or unforeseen circumstances arise.
“We appreciate that planned power outages can be inconvenient for customers and thank them for their patience while we work to ensure a safe, secure and reliable electricity network for their communities."
