Seniors can look forward to taking more trips with the introduction of the Regional Transport card which they can use to pay for taxis, fuel or pre-booked NSW TrainLink services.
Eligible seniors can expect to receive the $250 cards in the coming weeks.
Tamworth pensioner Fay Cousins said it was a great initiative because it would benefit everyone, whether they drove or prefered public transport.
"It will certainly help towards cost of living, fuel is not cheap and it is a big item out of the pension," she said.
"It is a really great initiative."
Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson said the new card will ease the burden of
travel costs for eligible seniors living in rural and regional parts of NSW.

"The response in applications so far has been massive," he said.
"This is why we announced the $250 Regional Seniors Travel Card as an election commitment.
“We are delivering on our commitment to help our seniors travel to and from
essential services and make it easier and more affordable for them to remain
connected with friends and family.
“Eligible seniors will have a minimum of 12 months to use their card from the time of
activation."
Mr Anderson said it was great for seniors who live in regional centres like Nundle, Werris
Creek, Barraba, Manilla, Bendemeer as well as larger centres like Tamworth and
Gunnedah.
“After they have applied through Service NSW, eligible seniors will receive their card
and can use it to purchase fuel, use taxi services or to book a NSW TrainLink fare,”
Mr Anderson added.
To be eligible to receive the $250 Regional Seniors Travel Card you must be an age
pensioner with a valid Pensioner Concession Card or hold a Commonwealth seniors
Health Card and live in regional NSW outside Sydney, Newcastle
or Wollongong City Council boundaries.
