Seven confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Tamworth LGA

There are seven people in Tamworth Regional Council who have been diagnosed with Covid-19.

Liverpool Plains, Glen Innes, Narrabri and Inverell all have 1-4 cases identified, but no cases have been reported in Armidale, Gwydir, Uralla, Walcha or Gunnedah.

NSW Health released specific figures after MP Adam Marshall expressed concern over the lack of transparency.

Altogether, a further 21 people have been diagnosed with COVID-19 in the Hunter New England Health District. It brings the total number of cases to 124.

HNE Health Public Health Physician David Durrheim said he was pleased with the behaviour of residents returning from cruises. "We are thrilled that these passengers have actually restricted themselves to being at home, they have self-isolated and we encourage everyone in the community to take a lesson from these heroes," he said. "These are people who did not expect to be infected and yet they are playing their role in the community by ensuring they keep the virus at home and not spread it."

Dr Durrheim pleaded with respiratory symptoms, coughs, colds, or fevers to stay home.
