'Small but mighty' town assist police in search for wanted man

The New England Police District extended its "warmest thanks" to the residents of Mungindi and surrounds who were instrumental in assisting with the apprehension of a man wanted in connection with a number of offences allegedly committed in NSW and Queensland over the weekend.

New England Police District Commander, Superintendent Scott Tanner said members of the public went above and beyond to support their local police in their search both via air and land.

"The residents of Mungindi have again proved themselves with immense dedication and community spirit to assist us in ensuring the safety of their community," he said.

"We are both proud and thankful for their ongoing support. Mungindi is only a small town but it is mighty.

"As a result of our combined efforts three offenders were arrested and a number of firearms seized."
