Stabbing at Tamworth Service Station

Update: A 26-year-old man will face Tamworth Local Court today accused of stabbing a man over the weekend.


Police arrested the man on Saturday following initial searches near the crime scene area and took him to Tamworth Police station for further questioning.


By Saturday evening police charged the 26-year-old man with, wound with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and he was refused bail.


On Sunday a Magistrate at Tamworth Local Court formally refused bail ordering the man to return to Court on Monday 22nd February.

20th February: A 41-year-old man was stabbed in the torso in a violent attack near the Shell Petrol station on Goonoo Goonoo Rd, Tamworth.

Emergency services were called to the scene at about 3:45 am on Saturday 20th February after a witness found the man with stab wounds.

NSW Paramedics treated the man before he was taken to Tamworth hospital for further treatment where it is reported he remains in a stable condition.

Police established a crime scene and blocked off the main road into Tamworth until around 9am, with traffic being redirected through back streets.

A 26 year old man was arrested nearby the scene and is assisting police with their enquiries.

A spokesperson for Oxley Police said they have several witnesses who are assisting them to piece together the events leading up to the stabbing.

Detectives are asking anyone with information to come forward to Tamworth Police station or call Crime Stoppers.
