Teenagers charged following spate of break-ins across East Tamworth

Two teenagers have been charged with a series of offences related to several break-ins in East Tamworth over the weekend.

One of the boys aged 14 will face Tamworth's Children's Court today charged with aggravated break and enter, stealing and carrying a knife in public, whilst a 17-year-old boy has been granted conditional bail and will return to court in several weeks.

Just after midnight on Saturday 30th January Oxley Police officers attended a home on Darling Street following reports of a break and enter.

A short time later Officers stopped a group of four boys walking south on Napier Street and conducted a search.

During the search, police allege they found a knife and several items that had been reported stolen before finding multiple mobile phones and three sets of keys in the area nearby.

Police arrested all four boys and took them to Tamworth Police station where they were questioned further and two of them were charged.

Two boys aged 14 and 17 were charged while the other two 14-year-old boys were released from police custody pending further investigations.

Police believe some of the stolen goods they recovered come from other homes in Napier Street and Napier Ave that were broken into Friday 29th January.
