One of the city's oldest venues is set to throw open its doors for business this year, while another favourite watering hole will see its doors close.

Regional venue owners and operators Harvest Hotels are set to re-open The Courthouse Hotel later this year.

Located on the northern end of Peel Street, the local watering hole has been under renovation since July 2019 and is expected to open by June 2020.

The historical and hallmark regional pub was established in 1876, and the renovation aimed to retain the character of The Courthouse Hotel refurbishment but completing a full-scale redevelopment of the old pub, including restoration of its heritage façade and the addition of a kids and family area and outdoor courtyard as part of its expansion.

Harvest Hotels directors Chris Cornforth and Fraser Haughton are excited for what the re-opening of the venue will bring to the Tamworth community," Mr Cornforth said.

“From people looking for a good night out with great food and drinks, to families looking for a venue that’s suitable for kids, businesses looking to hold functions and to those who are just looking to unwind with a cold beer after work, The Courthouse 2.0 will be a venue that will cater for everyone," Mr Haughton added.

Harvest Hotels are also the owners and operators of Tamworth’s The Pig and Tinder Box and The Albert, as well as The Australian Hotel in Yass, NSW.

IN OTHER NEWS:

The hotel operators also announced the sale and closure of The Albert, as of February 29.

“Our plans for The Courthouse Hotel have been underway for many years, and our purchase of The Albert played a large part in being able to make these plans come to light,” said Mr Cornforth.

The pair said they plan to work together, to extend the main street’s appeal within the northern section of Peel Street.

“When one door closes, another opens. We wish the new owners all the best and look forward to seeing further development and increased activity take part in this end of the CBD to expand experiences for the community,” Mr Haughton added.

Further information about the re-opening for The Courthouse Hotel will be announced as the construction phase continues to progress.
