The Show Goes On: Musical Society moves another performance to 2021

Updated: Oct 19, 2020

Tamworth Musical Society has announced that their second in the Capitol Theatre Season 2020, Sweeney Todd, has been rescheduled to October / November 2021. This is the second TMS show that has moved into next year's calendar as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic following the rescheduling of their May production of Mamma Mia! to March 2021.

Mitch Alcorn, President of the Tamworth Musical Society said "they are saddened by the postponement of our productions for 2020. The ongoing interval that the live entertainment industry is experience and the uncertainty on when we will be able to welcome out full audiences back to the theatre or our wonderful volunteer society members back to rehearsals has lead to this decision.

The Society has been performing since 1888 and the last time they had a year of non-shows was in 1968 due to television becoming widely available. Prior to this, they had paused their yearly productions due to World War 2 and the outbreak of Spanish influenza in 1919.
