Top Ten Games to play in isolation

Updated: Apr 6, 2020

If last week’s Top Ten Things to do Inside wasn’t enough, let us help you with a clever list of the Top Ten Games to Play (and where to find them locally).

We included you in the debate on our 92.9fm Facebook page the best games in this un-official list.

10. Puzzles

Not the most exciting game, but still a much loved thing to do, which is why we have put it at number 10. Believe it or not we have been putting puzzles together for years! The origins of jigsaw puzzles go back to the 1760s when European mapmakers pasted maps onto wood and cut them into small pieces.

So, whether you’re stuck at home with family, have kids or just enjoy the calmness of not having to use technology for once, make sure you check out one of these.

9. Got a Sense of Humour?

Just like watching Titanic right before going on a cruise is a bit sadistic, so are playing these two games…

Pandemic is a cooperative board game in which players work as a team to treat infections around the world while gathering resources for cures

Many people die in utterly ridiculous ways, andStupid Deathschallenges players to identify myth versus fact.

8. Ice-breakers

Sometimes you need the kind of games that get you out of your shell. These three definitely do that!

7. Film and TV Favourites

Nothing like capturing an audience with a game based on their favourite movie or tv show! Check out these three great options:

6. The Classics with a Twist

The Classics are classics for a reason! Everyone’s got at least one of these in the cupboard, but here’s a thought: maybe it’s time to retire the oldies and upgrade to a themed board game that suits your tastes!

Monopoly

Cluedo

Chess

5. Quiz based games

Fancy yourself a clever cookie? Well why not prove yourself in a game of skill with a game of Harry Potter Trivial Pursuit or Trivillenial!

4. Great for Kids

We can’t forget about the kids! Here are some of the best board games that will have your kids laughing in no time!

3. Cards Against Humanity

Cards Against Humanity is a party game for horrible people (or so they describe). Unlike most of the party games you've played before, Cards Against Humanity is as despicable and awkward as you and your friends.

Check out the original (plus expansion packs) at Giftbox in the Tamworth Square, or the Million Reasons website for the Harry Potter, Game of Thrones and Disney versions!

2. Old Favourites

These are old favourites for a reason—they have been played for years, and usually with worn out game pieces…it’s still good, it’s still good!

THE NUMBER 1 BEST GAME TO PLAY DURING ISOLATION:
