Top Ten Maroon 5 Songs

This weekend on 92.9, we are bringing you the Top 10 Songs from Maroon Five! One of the biggest groups of the last two decades – with a string of number one hits, but what will be number one!? The Top 10 Maroon Five Songs

"Memories" is a sparse, reflective track in which Adam Levine looks back on the good times with a loved one while enjoying some drinks with friends. The effects of the alcohol and camaraderie with his pals cause his emotions to bubble up as he remembers their times together.

Levine shared on Twitter: "This song is for anyone who has ever experienced loss. In other words, this song is for all of us."

Overexposed (2012)

Co-written by frontman Adam Levine and Swedish hitmaker Max Martin, this bittersweet tale of a lover creeping away in the morning is one of several Overexposed tracks where Maroon 5 worked with chart-friendly songwriters. The album title itself is further evidence that on this record, the band are aiming to be a band whose music will be inescapable.

Makes Me Wonder

It wont be soon before long (2007)

Lead singer Adam Levine explained that he wrote this about his frustration at the state of politics and the US role in the war in Iraq. Levine began writing the track a few years earlier about a failed relationship, which is a common theme in Levine's writing.

This song rose from #64 to #1 on the US chart in 1 week (May 12, 2007), breaking the record for the biggest leap to #1 in the history of the Billboard Hot 100

One More Night

Overexposed (2012)

This reggae-tinged tune was released as the second single by Maroon 5, from their fourth studio album, Overexposed. Despite its sunny production, lyrically the track is quite dark with Levine crooning about being guilt-ridden about his part in a dysfunctional relationship, but still wanting to spend "one more night" together. The song was premiered by the band on May 18, 2012, at the Revel Casino and Hotel in Atlantic City, USA and was released on June 19, 2012.

Girls Like You

Red Pill Blues (2017)

"Girls Like You" is an upbeat love song in which Adam Levine shows his appreciation for his girl after overcoming a difficult time in their relationship. Originally the ninth track on Maroon 5's sixth studio album, Red Pill Blues, a remix featuring American rapper Cardi B, was released as a single on May 30, 2018. The revamped version leaves the original vocals and production intact before Cardi B slides in with her verse in the latter half of the song.

Harder to Breathe

Songs about Jane (2002)

As the album title suggests, many of the songs on it are about Jane, who is lead singer Adam Levine's ex-girlfriend. This song, however, is not about Jane. It's about their record label, and how they put pressure on the band to make certain songs and put a record out. Levine thought the label was smothering them.

Won't Go Home Without you

It wont be soon before long (2007)

Adam Levine said: "It's about desperately trying to impress a girl and doing everything I could to make her listen to me." The guitar undertone on this song is based on the bass line from The Police's "Every Breath You Take." Frontman Adam Levine admitted to the influence of "Every Breath You Take" on this song.

This Love

Songs About Jane (2002)

This is about a guy who thought everything was good but was blinded by the fact that the relationship was going to hell. She's left him lots of times, playing with his heart, but this time she's not coming back. It hit him hard, and it's like a permanent scar. He did what he could to keep her, but she's just never satisfied. He's playing love like it's a game, not taking it seriously, which angers her and causes her to leave. According to lead singer Adam Levine, this song is about how he was fed up with his relationship with Jane and how the record label was pressuring the band for more songs.

She Will Be Loved

Songs About Jane (2002)

This is about a guy who has a best friend who is always someone else's girlfriend. He knows everything about her and she runs to him every time one of her relationships goes bad. He keeps saving her because he secretly loves her. He'll do anything for her even though she hurts him by leading him on. He's waiting for her to realize what a mistake she is making with all the other guys.

Moves Like Jagger

This electro-pop track is billed as "Maroon 5 featuring Christina Aguilera," though the latter actually does very little, only coming in at the bridge after two minutes. The song was released on June 21, 2011 in conjunction with a live performance on The Voice. Both Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine and Aguilera were coaches on the show. For this song, their vocals were both Auto-Tuned, although it was used more for effect here than for pitch correction.
