A haystack caught fire in the early hours of Monday morning on Wallamore Road, Westdale as temperatures soar and fire bans remain in place across the region.
Tamworth Rural Fire Service attended the scene shortly before 4 am and began fighting the flames.
The crews used the farmer's tractor to break the stack apart for extinguishment and had everything under control by just before 6 am.
Emergency services were kept busy over the weekend with grass fires in Oxley Vale, Knights Road Quirindi, Cattle Creek near Willow Tree, Mullaley, Nowendoc, Pilliga and many more across the state.
A total fire ban and very high fire danger rating remain across the Northern Slopes and North West fire areas including Tamworth, Liverpool Plains, Inverell, Gwydir, Gunnedah, Moree Plains, Narrabri, Walgett and Warrumbungle local council areas.
The Bureau of Meteorology is forecasting very hot and windy conditions which will contribute to the high fire risk across the Northern Slopes and Northwestern area with severe to extreme heatwave conditions continuing from the weekend through to Thursday 3rd December.
